GROWN WITH NOUS
Nous is the passion project created by Rachael and Murray Cook. Ever since meeting at university we have had the personal dream of making and creating our own wine label. After 20 years in the wine industry we found a perfect vineyard site on a north east facing hill slope in the Brancott Valley (Wairau). In 2018 we began planting 0.29ha of Chardonnay at one of the highest density plantings in Wairau (Marlborough), Aotearoa. It has been a labour of love working under organic & biodynamic principles from inception.
Nous is the indescribable something you pick up by learning on the job. By doing it ourselves and using the knowledge gained from over twenty years of practical experience - it's the true expression of us.

Nous is a term from classical philosophy for the faculty of the human mind necessary for understanding what is true and real. It’s often described as the equivalent of perception except it works within the mind as thought or reason. For us, Nous is the true expression of us - grown with nous.
